Turn back your clocks! Fall is Definately here!

Whats up Chiba-Headz?...First, We just wanted to say we are sorry for the delay of our news updates. From now on we will be making sure to keep you updated constantly with hilarious banter and summations of our most recent acts of Tomfoolery.

Onto more pressing Issues..Our guitarist Dan "The Man" Casper (Jasper, Grasper, etc...) has decided to part seperate ways from Chiba-Ken. He will always be dearly loved and missed. We know we will be seeing him around so come and say thanks to him for giving it all he could. We also want to put the word out that we will remain a four piece for the time being. We feel stronger and closer than ever and can't wait to finally start playing out consistently again! Also, after our contract expires with Gotham Records we have decided to part seperate ways from them and seek different management/label representation.

In the next couple of months you can be sure of these three things; 1) Chiba-Ken is a Free Agent, bidding shall begin at 2 million Euro 2) New Recordings coming out every couple of months I fool you not! 3)Huge Party at the CHiba-house, one so huge in fact we hope to get a town ordinance!

Chiba-Ken is back in action and at fullforce! Now we can continue on our journey at 100% with nothing holding us back and that is a dangerous thing my friends...Please message us with any thoughts you have even if it has nothing to do with us, we always love someone to talk too ;) -the ken

...Sssoooo that went well

A special thanks goes out to those who rocked the funk out with us at The House of Blues on July 27th. The show was a-fucking-mazing. Yeah thats right; I cursed. And not your little sisters "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" 'STUPIFY!!!' style curse either. It was a four-letter-swear-word worthy kind of amazing. We had a ridiculous amount of fun, got a ludicrous amount of drunk, and guess what... If you missed it, we're doing it again this month! Indeed, on August 24th the New Breed Fighters will once again convene beside the rocky, metalic stylings of the Ken. HILE! GUNSLINGERS!! TO ME!!!

Get your tickets NOW at the ticketmaster website. If we see you there we will indeed slap you five. Up high or down low; it is your preference.

...Hope to see you there!

Currently our music is featured on a Chick fighting DVD entitled Chixx-N-Lixx Volume 1. Click the link and check it out! ROCK ON!!! ~~~~~~~Dan

MMA and the House of Blues yo!

So we finally got a trailer to lug our equipment to and fro. Oh happy day! More leg room = a happier and more productive Chiba-Ken. Things are lookin up.

Now for the important and slightly more relevant news...

...We have a huge show coming up that we unfortunatly had to cancel a few other dates in order to take. Check the shows section for our updated schedule. The show is at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ! And thats not all. We here in Chiba-Ken are avid fans of mixed martial arts which is one of the fastest growing sports in America right now. This particular show also happens to be a New Breed Fighters event. Thats right my friends, a night of rock n roll and cracked bloody knuckles! You can get tickets through ticketmaster by clicking this link. Hope to see you there!

Once again if you would like to be a part of our plan to take over the world, help us out by joining the Chiba-Legion, our street team and spread the word. Anyone interested should email me at dcasper82@gmail.com. Give me as much info about yourself as possible. Name, address, phone, age, shirt size, sex, etc. Chiba-fans unite! ROCK ON!!! ~~~~~~~Dan

Party, pics, and a giant koala bear...

Hey there party freaks! We here in Chiba-Ken would like to electronically thank all the headz that came out to party and get straight nuts with us at the Chiba-house on the 16th. Mad fun was had by all. We will be posting pics of our hilarious drunkeness as soon as we sort through all the embarrassing ones. The majority of which consist of myself, my birthday suit, and a 150lb koala bear named Kikalzu. It was a big koala to say the least. So keep an eye out on our myspace for pics of what Chiba-Ken and Co. do best... drink until the sun kills us and sleep until the cold grey light of the moon resurrects our cracked zombified bodies for more.

In other news...

...Justin and I will be working together in the coming weeks to organize and finally, truly lift the Chiba-Legion off the ground. Anyone actively involved will have personal contact with us incase they have any questions, comments or ideas to share with the band. I won't go into too much detail here since we are still hashing out our plan of action. If you are interested in participating in promotion in your area please send me an email at dcasper82@gmail.com with as much info about yourself as possible. Name, age, sex, birthday, shirt size, musical preferences, phone number, address, etc. I assure you that you will be rewarded in your efforts to bring Chiba-Ken to household-name status.

Alright, alright ill shut up for now. ROCK ON!!!~~~~~~~Dan

Chiba-summer kickoff party!!!

Ahhhh... The delicious scent of summer creeps its way into and out of our lives on quite a regular basis, creating a representation of nostalgic memories unparallel in comparison to the rest of our senses. A cooling rain on a sweltering day will forever be one of my favorite olfactory indulgences. Lets hope that on June 16th I will not be enjoying said scent since the long awaited Chiba-Ken summer kick-off party/fundraiser will be taking place.

Yes. I did indeed say the word "fundraiser". We have had a lot of parties in the past and spent a considerable amount of money in the process. So we were hoping that if everyone threw in a 5 to 10 dollar "donation" for the luxury of being able to party like a rock-star and of course not have to drive home (because Chiba-Ken supports responsible partying), we would have the luxury of touring like a real band! Seriously people, we need a trailer more than you need to go see Hostel 2.

So yeah, whether we make enough cash for a trailer or just break even we are expecting a sick party. Kegs, pool, and live music will of course be provided. People should start showing up around 8ish. Earlier if you wanna watch us scurry around cleaning and setting up! Contact us for more info...

Alright people you've been warned. Now get ready for the goodness. You only have a week and a half so why are you still reading this?! Go tell your friends and spread the word!!!

Whoa!!! Chiba-Ken has a website!?!?! Coulda fooled me....

Well a lot of things have happened in the world of the Ken since the last update here at chiba-ken.net. The biggest change happens to be the main reason why the site had originally fallen by the wayside. Joshua Jaffe has parted with us as an indirect result of creative differences. He was pretty much our go-to guy for tech busines such as the website, and to a lesser degree our myspace page. But fret not my beautiful Chiba-Friends! It is I, Dan who shall regale you with Chiba-news, gossip, and events of yore and of those yet to come. So don't blame me if my lackluster knowledge of html fails to titilate your senses as I am only a novice and its all Georges fault. "why?" you ask? Don't talk, just listen...

Okay so George started early in life as a super secret double 0 agent whos sole purp................ Ahhh who wants to hear that boring old story when theres Chiba-news to be heard?!

Where was I? Oh yeah, so Josh left us and we were sad... Breifly. In comes the last dude on earth that I expected to blow my mind on the bass. Justin freakin D'amelio, aka f*ckin NOOOOOOOB!!!. (Yes, 'freakin' is his middle name.) This boy... and i do mean boy, could easily play circles around some of the sexiest bassists out there. And some of the ugly ones too. You might ask "Dan, why on earth would you want to be in the same room with two D'amelio's at once, let alone a band?" To which I might reply; "Dude, didn't i tell you to shut up and listen!?!?" Truth be told it's better than it was (sorry Josh) and Justin is an amazing addition to the band. And thus begins another leg on the journey to gwardom.... uh, i mean stardom.

That being the biggest and most important of the latest Chiba-news... And in trying to keep this long-overdue news spew as dainty as bloggingly possible, which I've already flubbed all kinds of up, I give to you this uber-long run-on sentance in which I will announce that along with A Farewell Fire we were breifly mentioned in the June issue of revolver magazine. Unfortunatly all you see of us is Josh "trash-puka" Jaffe's lovable cartoony mug. Whatever, at least we're mentioned!! Go check it out yo!

MUCH more news to come in the leading weeks. Until then, SIGN OUR MAILING LIST!!!

Did you know that after rising from the ocean on his way to demolish Toyko, Godzilla (or Gojira, his real name) probably would have stomped his way through Chiba-Ken to reach Tokyo. The Age of 105... "the Chiba-Crib" It's 2006 and Chiba-Ken rang in the new year by moving into a house together. It's a sweet setup that also serves as our rehearsal studio. Beginning in mid February we will be airing a new internet series showing the reality of being in a working band. We're going back into the studio in March to record a new EP that is as yet untitled. The EP is set for release on May 1st. One month later, Chiba-Ken will embark on a summer tour down the east coast playing 14 cities in 18 days. Also, "Urban America" off the EP "Faces of the Moment" can be heard on a compilation CD released by FLO magazine. Chiba-Ken is joined by several popular bands including Story of the Year, Alkaline Trio, Exodus, Dredge, and more in this CD/DVD combo. Be sure to check out their site: flomulitzine.com - George

December 13th, 2004

And then there were four... We are saddened to announce the departure of one of our guitarists, Eddie, from the band. His family affairs couldn't allow him to make the commitment necessary in this career, and rather than hold us back, we have amicably gone our separate ways. Though we are upset to hear it, we respect his choice and we all wish Eddie the best for his future plans. So now we have to ask you all to help us out. We are excited to search for a new Chiba-Ken member, so if you know anyone with the skills, talent, attitude and dedication to help take this band to the top, please let us know. In the meantime we aren't cancelling any shows, so don't change your plans. - Joshua

November 13th, 2005

Last night was easily one of the best nights of our lives. We rocked out, had a great show, watched Boysetsfire and From Autumn To Ashes kill it, got to chill with them... and they even shouted us out on stage. Safe to say, we had an excellent time. We really want to thank all of you for your support and interest, for signing our mailing list and leaving us mad love on our myspace page. It really means the world to us. You guys are the sole reason why we do this. Thanks! - Joshua

CD Release Party, T-Minus: One Month What up y'all. George here. And so it begins, Chiba-Ken will be playing the Continental on Friday, September 30th, our first show in NYC in 2 months and also our CD release party....finally!!! So we expect to see you all there at 8 o'clock so we can get our drink on before we get our rock on... or something like that.
Thank you to everyone who has been buying our CD, we will have new merchandise for you at this show. We're playing with some awesome Heavy Rock bands and we're playing some brand spanking new songs, so I want girls on stage for this show, I want to pour tequila down the throats of our fans who are pressed up against the stage! I want someone to grab my belongings as I get kicked out of Continental, and then tell me how those other bands were over a margarita at the bar across the street.
We're promoting this show heavily, you can help by telling your friends and marking it on your calendar. Keep checking back as updates will be frequent. God Bless. - George.

Also, don't forget to check our links section, we've been adding ourselves on to a lot of sites lately. Be sure to click on the Buzzplay.com link and vote for us! "Faces Of The Moment" Now Available! Chiba-fans rejoice!! For we have returned from our mid-west tour. We managed not to kill each other despite riding in a van together for two weeks, using no A/C,
in the middle of a Missouri heat wave, dirty, hungry, smelly...but of course still looking good. Regardless, the tour was a smashing success. We made a lot of friends, fans, and contacts so Chiba-Ken's future is brighter than ever. After returning home we began a radio campaign and are currently getting our press packet and new cd "Faces of the Moment" into the hands of radio stations around the world. We're also teaming up with some of the best hard rock bands in NYC as we prepare to bring you our CD release party which will take place in Manhattan towards the end of September. So keep checking back and we will keep you informed as things develop. Enjoy August! You'll hear from us soon. - George

Hey guys, it's good to be home! Just an additional FYI, we're looking to start getting a street team together, so if any of you are interested, shoot us an email at info@chiba-ken.net. I look forward to hearing from you! - Joshua

July 12th, 2005

The CD is being released today, July 12th! It's been a long road and we took our time recording this one, only the best for Chiba-Ken. You can check out what cities we're going to be playing on our tour, as well as the venues, (some more modest than others). It's all right here on our website. We'll be updating our blog from the road, so be sure to stop in at our myspace page and drop us a line. We look forward to hearing from our fans, both old and new, as well as getting you our new CD. Eventually you'll be able to buy our CD online, but in the meantime, we can do this the old fashion way. See you soon! - George

March 25th, 2005

Back in the studio! A lot has changed for us in the six months since our last recording.... so we decided it was time for us to return to the studio and work on a new CD that will properly reflect what Chiba-Ken is today. This weekend we are going back to Michael Barille's Purple Light Studios to begin recording five new CK tracks. Some you've heard at shows, some you haven't, but all five will prove that Chiba-Ken is definitely willing and able to go the distance. A lot is going on here in the Chiba Camp. Don't think our recent silence is a sign of lack of progress... quite the opposite. And don't forget about our upcoming shows! - Joshua

March 1st, 2005

WE WON!! Yes, we won first round of the the Jersey Shows Battle of the Bands with UpSkyzDown, Maleficence and Parkway South! These guys did not make it easy, so we are very glad we won. Now on to Round Two on May 22nd... check it out in the shows section! - Joshua

ACME felt the wrath. It was a great time, and thanks everyone who came! We got a Holiday show coming December 27th at the infamous Continental in NYC. Yeah, its right after Christmas, but come out anyway, and show off your ill-gotten gains. Jews, this means you too.
In other other news, you can see we got some band photos up in the bio section, as well as an expanded bio. This is because we finally got our press kits together. If you want one, just email us at info@chiba-ken.net. - Joshua

November 19th, 2004

Ok, so they may be a month overdue, but whatever.... WE GOT OUR DEMO CD's FINALLY! So if you want one, it's real easy: Just come to a show. We are giving them away for free. They are very pretty and professional looking and sounding, and you should get one now so you can eBay for like $500 next year.
Now of course, your first question is "Well, when are you playing live?" And the answer is, check our shows section, because we have 3 Manhattan gigs coming up, and we are now busting our collective asses to get more shows all over the tri-state area and beyond. If you want us to play near you and know a good venue, or even better, a good booking agent, please email us and let us know!
Lastly, we want to give a big shout out and thank you to the 1000 (wow!) people who have added us as a friend on myspace! You guys are proving to be an awesome group of fans, and we are trying to get shows near all of you as soon as we can. - Joshua

Well, it's been a long time coming, but we have finally completed our demo! You can download all the tracks right here from our site in music section... as well as watch our 3 minute video of the recording process in our bio section! Safe to say, fun was had by all, except maybe Mike, because he had to put up with us knuckleheads.
Also, we want to extend a very special thank you to Ken Schalk of Candiria for tracking all of our drums when he only expected to be setting them up. Life happens, and Ken seriously came through in the clutch. Thanks a lot. - Joshua

September 1st, 2004

CBGBs was everything we hoped it would be, so thanks a lot for coming out and representing like you guys did! We got recording dates planned, so our demo is soon to come... then world domination!
By the way, you can now find us on purevolume and myspace. - Joshua

And so it begins... thanks everyone for making the Dublin Pub gig so damned fun! You guys really made us feel like we're on the right path here...and we learned a lot, but mainly that backup instruments are a good plan. Now the CBGBs gig will surely reign supreme. See you all there. - Joshua

Welcome to the brand-new Chiba-Ken website! For all you new comers, Chiba-Ken is a new band hailing from NYC. We are still working on a good definition of our sound. The terms alternative, versatile, heavy, melodic, rock and awesome have been used a lot. At this point we are far more concerned with making great music than defining it... so why not do us a favor and come out to one of our shows and tell us what in the hell we are, because we have no clue. But fear not, for we will have more MP3s coming along as soon we record our 3-song demo.... which should indeed be soon.
Just don't forget to join our mailing list! We will only use it to send you show notices and special updates, so don't worry about us clogging your inbox. - Joshua
